Formerly, I had quite a bit of text plus some linked screenshots of Xiphos and WinSword here. However, I have become sufficiently involved in Xiphos development since mid-2006 that it no longer makes sense to maintain separate documentation about it. Please take a look at these links for general information on The Sword Project, and the specific UIs built on it.
I wanted other Bible translations available to me in Xiphos, but there do not exist Crosswire-distributed Sword modules for NIV or NASB due to copyright restrictions. However, complete Bible texts can be obtained for personal use via Bible Gateway and Crosswalk. The scripts here can be used on any UNIX or Linux system, and probably in a Cygwin environment, to download a version of the Bible and convert it yourself for use in any Sword application (UNIX/Linux, Windows, MacOS).
